Oh - yes, there are many pitfalls with WordPress like compatibility between plugins, templates, and upgrades to WordPress itself. It's all to be expected though as with any extensible platform. WordPress can be a double-edged sword. On one side, you have powerful functionality at your figertips thanks to the work of many dedicated programmers. But, on the other side, you need to know how to fix your site when something breaks. This involves a bit more than opening an HTML file in some text editor. Be prepared to dig deep into PHP templates and plugins. Don't get me wrong, I am actually a big fan of Wordpress. I mean seriously - who would want to code and then test all of that awesome functionality from scratch when it's free for the taking? Just remember that with great power, comes great responsibility.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of social networking sites in existence today. Some work really well while others are not so good. With that number being so high you may find it difficult to decide which ones to use and which ones are a waste of your time.

Nyagoslav, thanks for weighing in. A Google Places page is a search result in that a searcher querying Google Maps for a particular type of business can potentially see your business, along with a list of others, in a search results page with a map showcasing the location of the businesses. Google Maps is its own vertical and therefor has its own search results algorithm. A cozy nuance, I suppose.

I don't agree completely with the statement that a Google Places page is a search result. Actually a Google Places page is a Google Maps element, and linking to it, is similar to linking to other Google Maps elements, such as addresses for example. But it is true that Place pages don't get indexed and therefore they are not part of the normal process of ranking. They are part of a completely separate algorithm.

Great Post and thank you for mentioning about the Google +1. I recently read some of Aaron Wall's blog posts about link building being dead and I do not recall him mentioning much about that. It is frustrating to think that Google is going to allow large companies to rank higher.

In addition to finding an SEO consultant that knows your industry/business, make sure the person you hire understands business (in the broader sense). Rankings and traffic ARE NOT the measure of SEO success. If your SEO consultant doesn't ask you the question, "what's a new client worth?" (and walk you through a framework for answering this question IF you don't already know it), you're not working with a true professional. Thanks for sharing information

Lngtalsali,

Define "unfairly."

What you have to keep in mind is that Google is a business. They can set their own policies. Agree or disagree, they don't owe you anything. They don't owe me anything. Our job as Internet marketers is to find the best way to make our businesses profitable through online marketing channels.

I think this is a very tough work to give answer on this question. We can not say which one is more important but we all know On page work must implement before start off page work.So try to do best on page work and target your keywords throughout the website then go for link building work and create some quality backlinks for your website.
I believe people ll like this blog post and ll get some useful information from here.

What about email marketing? It far outpaces direct mail. And depending on list size it's not expensive in terms of monetary commitment. It does take some time to set up but well worth it in the long term.

This report is from 2009 but is still relevant: http://directmag.com/magilla/1020-e-mail-roi-still-slipping/

Important to remember that sitelinks will only show up if you have excellent quality score, so you probably want a separate exact-match-only adgroup tied to your sitelinks.

I think the indirect benefit of getting traffic from Twitter isn't necessarily via SEO but posting enough quality content that your Twitter followers will eventually check the link in your profile.
